Say the order out loud.
Prop a tablet by the register and just talk. Buddy hears the order, prices it off your own menu, recognizes the regular standing in front of you, and takes the payment — while your hands stay covered in buttercream.
A register that listens
Walk through the order the way you'd say it to a customer. Buddy follows along and builds the ticket as you go, so you're never hunting for a button mid-rush.
Buddy matches what you said to your real catalog items and the server does the math — including the ones you sell by the dozen, where a misread costs you an order.
Say the name and Buddy pulls up the customer, their history, and their loyalty points — then applies the reward they've earned without you looking anything up.
Send a pay link, charge the card they already have on file, or mark it for pickup. You pay Stripe's rate directly and we add nothing on top at the counter.
The one place Buddy doesn't ask permission first.
Everywhere else in Bakery Buddy, Buddy drafts and waits for you to approve. The counter is the deliberate exception, because there is no version of 'please review this draft' that works with a customer standing in front of you holding a card. So the counter commits when you confirm on screen — and it's the one surface where Buddy's tools can't change anything on their own.
Say what they want
"Two dozen chocolate chip and a six-inch vanilla for Saturday." Buddy listens and builds the ticket live on screen.

What do I need to run it?
A tablet or laptop with a microphone and a modern browser — it uses the browser's own speech recognition, so there's no app to install and nothing extra to buy. Prop it by the register and open the counter page.
Does it charge card fees?
Not ours. In-person counter payments run on your own Stripe Connect account at Stripe's rate, and Bakery Buddy adds no application fee on top — which is what makes it cheaper than Square in person. That's true on the Home plan too.
What does a voice order cost?
A voice order draws from your Buddy Balance once per order, not per sentence — follow-up turns in the same conversation don't cost extra. Home includes $2 a month, Baker $15, and Bakery $40, and on the paid plans it rolls over.
What if it mishears something?
The priced ticket stays on screen the whole time, so you see the mistake before the customer does. Correct it by saying so, or tap the item on the menu grid. Nothing becomes an order until you confirm.
Does it work for a customer who isn't in my system?
Yes. Buddy creates the customer as part of the order, so a first-time walk-in still ends up in your CRM with their history started — you don't have to stop and add them first.
